| Wow! It would probably be a little bit too much to suggest that our friends at the Antwerp World Diamond Center (AWDC) actually planned the whole darned thing, but the US$50 million (or much more) Brussels Airport diamond heist of 120 diamond parcels turned into a global media spectacle of almost seismic proportions. It also provided considerable free-of-charge promotional opportunities. Indeed, a quick Internet search reveals that scores of diamantaires and jewelers all became experts overnight, airing the most fantastic renderings of the events - nicely tailored for corporate needs. Naturally, in every country a local twist was added.
