|Russian mining company Alrosa has announced the company's diamond sales results for August and the first eight months of 2017, reporting total sales of rough and polished diamonds in August worth US$257.6 million.
Breaking down the numbers, revenue from rough diamond sales in August amounted to US$255.7 million, with polished diamond sales reaching US$1.9 million.
For the January-August 2017 period, Alrosa's rough and polished diamond sales reportedly reached US$3.047 billion. Total rough diamond sales for the eight-month period were US$2.983 billion.Commenting on the results, Alrosa Vice President Yury Okoyomov says, "August is traditionally low season for trading. This year was no exception, although sales volumes in August were slightly higher than a year earlier."
